Obviously, Carl Sagan doesn’t mean to disrespect people’s various views and beliefs. I think the most important aspect of this is to understand that regardless of what comes after this life, we really should strive each day to appreciate what’s around us that much more. The world is vast and beautiful, and our miseries are often petty and self-indulgent. We should all smile more :)
